The Guelph & District Home Builders’ Association, the Greater Dufferin Home Builders’ Association, and the Guelph Wellington Development Association are proud to announce their merger, creating the Grand Highlands Home Builders’ Association (GHHBA). This unification brings together three longstanding organizations under one banner, forming a stronger, collective voice for the residential construction industry across Guelph, Wellington, and Dufferin.
The Grand Highlands Home Builders’ Association is more than just a label; it’s a deep reflection of the unique landscape that defines the region. Grand Highlands represents the elevated terrain and rolling hills that form the headwaters of the Grand River watershed in Southwestern Ontario. The name evokes a sense of place, connecting the communities and homes built here to the natural environment. This includes the major rivers that are born in this area—the Speed River and the Eramosa River—as well as the countless tributaries that flow through Wellington County, Dufferin County, and the city of Guelph before eventually feeding the mighty Grand River.
“This merger represents a new chapter for our industry in this region,” said President, Lisa Schuett. “By joining forces, we can advocate more effectively for policies and conditions that support not only our members, but also the many homeowners and future homeowners in our communities.”
Expanded Advocacy Power
With a broader membership base and united leadership, the Grand Highlands HBA will have greater influence in municipal, regional, provincial and national decision-making. This includes:
- Championing fair and balanced development regulations that keep housing attainable and communities thriving.
- Working with all levels of government to reduce barriers to building and renovating homes.
- Representing homeowner interests on issues like housing supply, affordability and neighbourhood planning.
Additional Benefits to Members:
- Stronger Collective Voice: More resources to speak on behalf of the entire industry.
- Expanded Networking: Access to a larger network of peers, suppliers, and industry leaders across our expanded region.
- Enhanced Education & Events: More robust professional development programs, workshops, and industry events.
- Collaborative Opportunities: Greater collaboration across municipalities, allowing for shared resources, ideas, and innovation.
The Grand Highlands HBA will continue to deliver the high-quality programming and support members have come to expect, now with the added strength of a broader membership base and a united leadership team.
“This is about more than just merging organizations—it’s about building a stronger, more resilient industry,” said CEO, Melissa Jonker. “We are combining decades of experience, commitment, and passion to ensure our members have the resources, representation, and community they need to thrive.”
The Grand Highlands Home Builders’ Association officially launches in September with a full slate of advocacy and events being released soon – including our merger celebration on October 30th.
